How to play Run and freeze

Other name(s): Shentral ; Courage escape ; Freeze tag ; Red light green light

The setup

Open space is needed. All players line up on one side. One player stands across the space and plays the role of “Run and Freeze.”

How to play

1) The “Run and Freeze” player turns their back to the group.
2) All other players start running toward them when the game begins.
3) At any moment, the leader turns around and shouts “Freeze!”
4) Any player caught moving must return to the starting line.

How to win

The first player to reach and tag the leader without being caught wins and becomes the new “Run and Freeze.”

Game variations

Play with multiple “freezers” spread out across the space.
Create freeze zones where players must stop even if not called.
