Other name(s): Gin Español
The setup
1) Use a Spanish 40-card deck (remove 8s, 9s, and 10s from a standard deck if needed).
2) Deal 7 cards to each player.
3) Place the remaining cards face down as a draw pile.
4) Flip one card face up next to the pile to start the discard pile.
How to play
1) On your turn, draw the top card from either the draw pile or the discard pile.
2) Check your hand to form melds: either sets (same value) or runs (sequential same-suit cards).
3) Choose one card to discard and place it face up on the discard pile.
4) If your unmatched cards total 5 points or less, you may end the round.
5) If you have a perfect 7-card run, you may declare “Chinchón” and win immediately.
How to win
After a round ends, each player adds penalty points from ungrouped cards. The player with the lowest total score after several rounds wins. A “Chinchón” ends the game instantly.
Game variations
- Some versions deal 6 or 9 cards instead of 7.
- Jokers may be added and used as wild cards.
